Merlin Youth Theatre was founded in 1993 by Tony Layton, the current Artistic Director. The company is a registered charity which offers education and skills training in theatre to children & young people, aged 9 - 25. Along with many professional adults in theatre, Merlin is supported by a committee of parents and volunteers who also provide professional expertise in finance, marketing, statutory matters, the law, fund-raising, personnel, child and youth development.

In the true sense of the 'youth theatre' tradition, Merlin Youth Theatre productions feature only the acting talents of our youthful members. Children & young people are also encouraged to join Merlin to participate in technical, design, and musical aspects of the productions.

Production of 'SNOW WHITE' The following year 'OLIVER'.

The Youth opera continued to present a fantastic production every year since then with some great shows.
Just Good Friends
Is a small theatre group specialsing in rarely performed/quirky/small cast musicals and plays. The company aims to entertain and send the audience home laughing! Previous shows include LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, CLUE, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, 'ALLO 'ALLO and BY JEEVES. IN 2009 THE GROUP AIMS TO TAKE A SHOW TO THE EDINBURGH FRINGE.
